ENHANCEMENT
A soft hyaluronic gel used to restore hydration and shape to lips that have thinned, or to add definition to lips that never had much.
We work at half a millilitre to one millilitre and we do not chase volume.
Forty-five minutes in the chair, then two or three days of swelling. The shape is there immediately, settles at two weeks, and lasts six to twelve months.
Lips lose hyaluronic acid, and with it water and structure, from the late twenties. The border blurs, the upper lip lengthens and lipstick starts to travel.
Replacing a small amount of gel rebuilds the border and the cushion beneath it. Shape is a question of where it goes, not how much goes in.
Hydration only, for lips that look tired rather than thin. Natural enhancement, for shape and a defined border. A lifted technique for a heavier, more structured upper lip. Restoration for mature lips where the upper lip has flattened and drawn in.
We also dissolve, and we do a lot of it. A lip that has been overfilled repeatedly needs to be emptied and left alone for several weeks before anyone rebuilds it.
Strong numbing cream for twenty minutes, then treatment with a needle or cannula depending on the technique. It is uncomfortable rather than painful, and it takes about fifteen minutes once you are numb.
You will leave swollen. Judge nothing for a fortnight — the first forty-eight hours always look like more than you asked for.
Ice gently for the first evening, sleep propped up, and skip exercise, alcohol and hot food for two days.
Expect lumps you can feel but not see for a week; they soften. If you get cold sores, tell us beforehand and we will prescribe cover.
We will not treat lips on a first visit if the reason you want them is an image on a phone. We will show you your own photographs from the last year instead, and then we will talk.
One millilitre goes a long way in a lip, and it is rarely worth using more in a single sitting.
